The Cave You Fear To Enter
There is a saying by Joseph Campbell, author and expert on World Mythology, “The cave you fear to enter holds the treasures you seek.”
Rabbit can see the slightest glimmer of gold coming from inside the cave and longs to explore and see where the adventure leads. Yet, another voice, the ego perhaps, warns to stay where it is safe! Will rabbit take the risk and go in or linger just on the edge of it’s comfort zone?
This wool painting has been wet felted with merino wool and kozo paper utilizing a relief technique that involved varying layers of the paper to create a highly textured piece. The cave has a slight 3 dimensional quality to it. Detail work has been needle felted with wool and various yarns. Other materials include ink and metallic foil.
Approx. 12.5” x 9.5” unframed

Each piece will come with a piece of heavy weight handmade paper chosen to accent your piece that can be used when matting/framing, if you so choose.
All orders will be carefully and beautifully packaged and shipped within 5-7 business days
Please note that the measurements of the actual piece are not consistent throughout as the edges are organic and slight variation is to be expected. These organic edges are a natural part of the wet felting process and they lend themselves well to the subject matter. If, however, you prefer a more precise edge you can easily have the mat made to cover the edges during the framing process.
